Here are few Car Seat Safety Tips:
Dress my baby in thinner layers of clothing before strapping him or her into a car seat
It’s always best to dress your child in more lightweight clothes and then wrap them a jacket or a blanket over the buckled straps. Very thick clothing, including jackets and snowsuits, can leave the straps too loose leading to increased risk of injury.
Do not buy additional Products to make the car seat Comfy :
We want our kids to be safe, comfortable, cozy and more secure. Because of this very reason, we might be inclined to buy products which claim to make the seat belt fit better. Avoid doing that. It’s better to use only gear that your car seat manufacturer provides.
Do not compromise on your child’s Car seat :
You might be getting a car seat for a very less price, or your friend might be passing it to you. But wait! Do not compromise on safety. If your friend is moving a car seat to you or if you are getting the car seat for a meager price, make sure to pose these questions to yourself!
- Which year was the Carseat manufactured?
- Was the car seat involved in any accident?
- Are there any cracks? Are all labels in place?
- Missing any parts?
- Was it recalled? Check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236. You can also visit the NHTSA Web site. Or check with the manufacturer.
No matter what, Avoid used seats if you don’t know it’s history. Check with the manufacturer to find out how long it recommends using the seat.
